Furniture delivery in Cape Coral: what to expect

Choosing the sofa is the fun part. Getting it through the front door is the part people forget about — so here is how delivery works with us, and what you can do beforehand so the day goes smoothly.

Measure before you buy, not after

Almost every delivery problem is a measuring problem, and it is completely avoidable. Ten minutes with a tape measure saves a very bad afternoon:

• The piece: width, depth and height — and the diagonal depth of sofas and sectionals, which is what really decides whether it turns a corner.
• The doors: the front door opening with the door open, plus any interior doorway on the route.
• The route: hallway width, tight turns, stair landings, and the elevator door and cab if you are in a condo.
• The destination: the wall where it will live, and the space you want left clear for walking around it.

If a number worries you, tell us before you order. It is far easier to pick a two-piece sectional instead of a one-piece, or a bed frame that arrives in parts, than to solve it on the doorstep.

Getting ready for delivery day

Clear the path: move rugs, floor lamps, small tables and anything breakable out of the route, and give the crew room in the driveway. If the old furniture is going out, decide in advance where it goes. In a gated community or a condo, check whether your association requires notice, a lift reservation or a delivery window — that is the single most common cause of a wasted trip in this area. Have your phone on you so the crew can reach you.

When the pieces come in, look them over before the crew leaves and tell us right away if anything is not right. It is much simpler to sort out while the truck is still outside.
